April Coordinator's Tips

#1
Encourage your audience to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables high in Vitamin C to honor the discovery. Oranges, kiwi, broccoli, or bell peppers are excellent choices to get 100% or more of the daily-recommended amount of Vitamin C.

#2
Advertise the health benefits of gardening. Not only is gardening a form of physical activity, but a garden can produce a supply of fresh vegetables to help reach your fruit and vegetable goal.

#3
Some people do not think of garlic as a vegetable. Educate your audience that garlic is a veggie packed with the phytochemical allicin. Garlic adds flavor and is also fat and cholesterol free and very low in calories (one clove has only 3 calories!)

#4
Dried fruit, such as raisins, are an easy snack idea to help reach your fruit and vegetable goal. Advocate for home-dried fruits or low/no sugar added options to lower the calories per serving.
